NaruOne Korean Restuarant

안녕하세요!!!

Met up with the UNSW people since they come to the city like once in a thousand years. Haha. We went to this korean restaurant recommended by Brandon. Before this, I didn't hear of this place before. But apparently, there are quite good reviews online about this place. Their specialty is their korean fried chicken. So it is a must to order this when you go there.

This restaurant is situation in the middle of the korean town and it is quite accessible as it is near World Square. In Sydney, there are a lot of korean restaurants everywhere and if there are good reviews of the place, it should be above average. And indeed, when we reached there, the place was super crowded and we had to wait for 30 mins outside the restaurant. Despite that, I think the service there is quite good as they are quite efficient and helpful.

I think the food was quite yummy too. However, I don't see the craze about the korean fried chicken. I think that it's the same as popcorn chicken or KFC and I see nothing special about it. But apparently, the guys liked it so much. Haha. I prefer the sweet and spicy fried chicken better because the taste is different from the normal fried chicken. I think I'm the only one eating that and I finished it. Haha. However, the price is a bit steep. I suggest you can share the food with a few friends so that you can try out different food and keep within your budget.

#1 Original Fried Chicken: Tasted the same as KFC fried chicken. I think it is normal and nothing special about it.
#2 Sweet and Spicy Fried Chicken: I like the sauce that they use. It is not very spicy as the taste is just nice.
#3 Hot Pot: The guys order this hotpot with tofu. They had ramen inside the hotpot as well.
#4 Bulgogi Hot Pot: This is the girls' beef hotpot. I realized hot pots are always full of veges. It contained glass noodles instead of ramen.

Adriano Zumbo

Hello!!!

School started for me after a short week's break. During the break, I literally went out everyday (which is a bad thing because I haven't done any revision at all). I'll need to start my assignments and revision soon. However, while studying, I need some comfort food and I am having cravings for macaroons now!!! (I mean real macaroons, not the cookie macaroons that I made. Haha.)

So this is the place where the real macaroon is. As you can see previously, my baking pack is from this patissier called Adriano Zumbo. This is their actual shop where you can get your macaroons. They have a few outlets around though, but I went to the outlet at The Star because it is soooooo near my place (it's a good thing to stay in the city because everything is so convenient).

They have different flavours of macaroon everyday and it really depends on your luck on that day. My favourite will be the salted caramel and the salted butter popcorn. And the thing is, it wasn't available when I was there that day!!! =( But their other flavours are good too. Not only they sell macaroons, they sell other desserts as well!!! They have tarts and other pastries. You can also dine in the shop as there is this conveyer belt with pastries on it and you can just take from there. So cool!!! I'll try their pastries soon when I am free or when I feel that I want to be TaiTai for that day. Haha.

If you are at The Star, you can go and take a look and get a few macaroons home.

Sydney Fish Market

Hello!!!

I am having a week of easter break now, so we decided to be a tourist and went to the Fish Market to eat seafood. This is my 2nd time there as I went there with my parents when they were here in Sydney. I used to hate the fish market because of the fishy smell. But this place was full of cooked and yummy seafood instead of the dead and smelly seafood. But here, you can get fresh seafood straight from the sea and you can even get fresh cooked seafood as well. You can choose the way to cook your seafood as they have ready available cooked seafood! If you are in sydney and crave for seafood, this place is definitely where you would want to be =)

We bought the cooked seafood 'off shelves' and we ate them on the spot.

#1 Baked Scallops: This is my favorite dish of all!!! The scallops are super juicy!!! I really like the texture of the scallops and they are really fresh.
#2 Lobster: I am not really a fan of lobster, so I think the lobsters tasted super bland and not that fresh. Don't buy lobsters from the stall (Peters or something) if you want nice lobsters. You can try to get them from other stalls. There are a few stalls to choose from.
#3 King Crab: This king crab actually tasted quite good. I like the meat inside the legs. Be careful when you try to dig out the meat because the legs are quite sharp, I was pricked for a few times =(
#4 Fried Silver Fish: I like this too. It tasted like ikan bilis, just that this is the bigger version of them. It's a bit salty though, you can eat it with rice if you decide to take away and eat it at home.
#5 Salmon, Tuna and Swordfish Sashimi: the salmon and swordfish sashimi are awesome!!! They're like super fresh and sweet!! I love the salmon sashimi best. But the tuna is not really very fresh, it tasted quite weird actually. Although you need to pay extra for the sauce, but they really mix it well.

Hello April

Hi!!!

It has been a month since I'm in Sydney and I really learnt a lot.
I learnt to be independent and survive on my own without my family members.
I learnt to wash the laundry.
I learnt to cook my own food (maggie mee and more to come).
I learnt to keep myself occupied when I'm alone.
I learnt to adapt to a completely new environment ASAP.
I learnt to do my own household chores.
I learnt to be organize and keep my room clean and tidy.
I learnt to buy my own groceries and be an auntie to compare prices at the supermarket.
I learnt to boil water.
I learnt to find my own food when I'm hungry.

And most importantly,
I learn to live life to the fullest by learning new things and improving myself everyday!!!!

Ban Khun Mae

Sawadee ka!!!

Some of you might know, I went to BKK for the chinese new year this year. Going to BKK every year with my family has become an annual routine because my dad always goes there for business trips and he likes the place. I prefer Taiwan to BKK in terms of fun and food but BKK's shopping beats Taiwan hands down. I just love their cheap clothes and cheap food as well. If you are there for holiday i.e. shopping spree, I want to recommend this place with awesome food!!! It is near Siam Paragon and the nearest MTR is Siam station.

Since you are in BKK, of course you want to eat authentic thai food right??? This place is actually reccomended by my dad and the food is really deabak (I mean dee mark ka - very good in thai). Haha. I tried to google the restaurant and it is actually featured on trip advisor. This shows how good it is. We'll go to this place whenever we go to BKK. After having your lunch, you can just start shopping once you step out of the restaurant because the shops are right in front!!!

The place is quite crowded during lunch time as most of the tables were occupied when we were there. And the service were quite good because the food came real fast. We ordered like 4 to 5 main dishes and I only managed to take pictures of the 3 dishes. I think that some restaurant is bound to have some signature dish which tasted nice but the rest is like OK only. But I think that every dish is awesome!!!

#1 Charcoal Grilled Pork with Honey: I like the way they cook the pork and the honey goes well with the pork. Not too sweet and not too salty.
#2 Shrimp Spicy Soup (Tom Yum Kung):  Can I say this is my favorite dish??? I can't find authentic Tom Yum Kung in Singapore because the soup is either too thick or too bland. This soup is just nice. It really have the sour and spicy taste and both taste blended together really well.
#3 Chicken Green Curry: I can taste the sweet and spicy taste of the curry and the soup is super thick. The chicken goes well with the curry.
#4 Crispy Water Chestnut in Coconut Milk with Ice (Red Ruby) : Red Ruby is always my favorite thai dessert and this is awesome!! Some red ruby that I ate doesn't have the crunchy taste but this is super crunchy and the coconut milk is super thick!! Reminds me of the Ice Kachang in Singapore.
#5 Sticky Rice with Ripe Mango: I don't really like to eat mango but I actually ate this mango!! I just wanted to try at 1st but it turned out that I kept eating it. I like the sticky rice and it goes well with the coconut milk.
