Dae Jang Kum 大长今

Anneoyohasaeyo!!!

I went to eat here twice with Cindi. The 1st time was to celebrate my birthday and the 2nd time was for dinner. The place was quite difficult to find as the place there has too many restaurants that it got covered. One good thing about the place is that it opens until very late at night (like 3am or something).

I kept comparing the food with Madang's and I think their food is not as good. Just by comparing the kimchi alone, I think that Madang's kimchi is so much better. I don't really eat vegetables but I actually liked Madang's kimchi. I kept asking for refill at Madang but here, we didn't manage to finish the kimchi. As for the stews, I think that their stew is not as thick. Their stew is very bland and watery.

Although the food wasn't as good compared to Madang, it's still good for supper after clubbing according to Chanya. Haha. I guess it's a good place for supper if you feel like eating something hot at night.

#1 Baked oyster: I love it!! I don't usually eat oyster, especially raw oyster because I cannot stand the fishy taste or the sea taste. But this oyster is awesome!!! You should try it.
#2 Kimchi stew: I think the soup is okay only. The soup is quite bland compared to Madang's kimchi stew. I still prefer Madang's kimchi stew.
#3 Tofu stew: This is actually one of its better stew compared to the other stews that they had.
#4 Calamari: I think the calamari is okay only. Not very nice.
#5 Beef rib stew: Cindi ordered this but I didn't try it. But I think she said it was also okay only.

Sydney Madang Restaurant

안녕하세요!!!

Oh man sorry for disappearing for so long. I was busy with school and I literally camp in the library everyday =( I finally find a day that I am free to eat my favorite korean food.

I went to this place 4 times already and I still wants to go back there. I always order different food and the food never disappoint me!!! This place is really famous in Sydney and it is one of the top rating restaurants for korean food. The place is quite difficult to find because it is situated in some alley of the korean town that I talked about the other time. But you can see the sign outside and it will lead you into the alley.

You can try out their set lunch which is super worth the price because the portion is super huge and you'll get super full after eating it. Also, they provide you with side dishes to munch 1st while waiting for your food. And the good thing is, they will change their side dishes every time so you won't get bored of it. And you should try out their korean pancake!!! It's really yummy!!! I love it when you dip it with the sauce =) You can try any of the dishes there because every dish is yummy =) It is a must-eat place if you come to Sydney =)

#1 side dishes: They always have different side dishes when you go there but I like the potato and the kimchi.

#2 Mushroom Korean Pancake: I love it especially with the sauce.

#3 Seafood Korean Pancake: I don't like it when they put vegetables in the seafood pancake. But I still eat it because I like the overall texture of the pancake.

#4 Tofu Stew: I like the soup base because it's not very spicy but I think the soup is a bit bland for a korean soup.

#5 Pork: I love the pork with the sauce. It's super nice!!! But I think they put too much onion already because I left one whole bunch of onions in the plate.

NaruOne Korean Restuarant

안녕하세요!!!

Met up with the UNSW people since they come to the city like once in a thousand years. Haha. We went to this korean restaurant recommended by Brandon. Before this, I didn't hear of this place before. But apparently, there are quite good reviews online about this place. Their specialty is their korean fried chicken. So it is a must to order this when you go there.

This restaurant is situation in the middle of the korean town and it is quite accessible as it is near World Square. In Sydney, there are a lot of korean restaurants everywhere and if there are good reviews of the place, it should be above average. And indeed, when we reached there, the place was super crowded and we had to wait for 30 mins outside the restaurant. Despite that, I think the service there is quite good as they are quite efficient and helpful.

I think the food was quite yummy too. However, I don't see the craze about the korean fried chicken. I think that it's the same as popcorn chicken or KFC and I see nothing special about it. But apparently, the guys liked it so much. Haha. I prefer the sweet and spicy fried chicken better because the taste is different from the normal fried chicken. I think I'm the only one eating that and I finished it. Haha. However, the price is a bit steep. I suggest you can share the food with a few friends so that you can try out different food and keep within your budget.

#1 Original Fried Chicken: Tasted the same as KFC fried chicken. I think it is normal and nothing special about it.
#2 Sweet and Spicy Fried Chicken: I like the sauce that they use. It is not very spicy as the taste is just nice.
#3 Hot Pot: The guys order this hotpot with tofu. They had ramen inside the hotpot as well.
#4 Bulgogi Hot Pot: This is the girls' beef hotpot. I realized hot pots are always full of veges. It contained glass noodles instead of ramen.
